Winter Wonderland
Well, not really. As I jumped up to the window with increased urgency this morning, I wondered to myself why people do get so excited about a bit of snow. My conclusion was that for most people (especially Londoners who suffer very feeble snowfall) the arrival of a layer of snow tends to be a once or twice a year event. So for someone of my age that means only about 50 days of snow in total. Compared to how often you catch a bus or how often you use the loo, that’s pretty a rare event. Hence the novelty value. Do you see?
Of course for every excited person there are plenty of complainers, but we’ll ignore them as no one likes a misery guts.
I feel like I should be heading somewhere with this, but unfortunately I’m not.
